24-Inch Base Cabinet Cut List (Frameless, 3/4" Plywood)
A 24" frameless base cabinet breaks down into 7 plywood parts that nest on 1 sheet of 4×8 3/4" plywood at 65% yield. The table below is the full box cut list — 34-1/2" tall, 24" deep, integrated toe kick — and the layout numbers come from running it through the optimizer, not from estimating. The cut list
| Part | Qty | Size | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Side | 2 | 23 1/4" × 34 1/2" | — |
| Bottom | 1 | 22 1/2" × 23" | 1/4" shy of the sides so the back covers its edge |
| Top stretcher | 2 | 22 1/2" × 6" | front + back; counter mounts to these |
| Toe kick face | 1 | 22 1/2" × 4 1/2" | — |
| Adjustable shelf | 1 | 22 1/4" × 22" | 1/8" side clearance, set back from doors |
| Back | 1 | 23 1/4" × 30" | 1/4" plywood in 3/8" rabbets — cut from a separate sheet |
What the optimizer did with it
Nested with a 1/8" kerf on every cut, rotation allowed, on standard 48" × 96" stock:
- 1 sheet used for the 7 box parts (65% of the sheet area ends up in the cabinet)
- Largest leftover: 48" × 15 5/8" — big enough to bank for drawer parts or the next job
- One box per sheet is the honest rate at this width — the sides alone commit most of a sheet's length
Those numbers are the optimizer's actual output for this exact list — load it yourself, swap in your widths, and the layout view shows every cut.
The construction these numbers assume
Frameless (Euro-style) box: 34-1/2" finished height with a 4-1/2" integrated toe kick, 24" overall depth including a 3/4" door, 3/4" plywood throughout, and a 1/4" back set into 3/8"-deep rabbets in the sides. The bottom, stretchers, and toe kick run between the sides, so they're cut 1-1/2" under the cabinet width; the bottom is also 1/4" shallower than the sides so the back covers its edge. The adjustable shelf gets 1/8" clearance per side and sits shallower than the box so doors close over it.
If you build with a face frame, 3/4" backs, or a separate ladder base, the part sizes shift — take this list as the starting point, edit the pieces in the optimizer, and re-nest. Doors and drawer fronts are deliberately excluded: they follow your overlay and door style, not the box.
FAQ
How many sheets of plywood does a 24-inch base cabinet take?
One 4×8 sheet of 3/4" plywood covers the whole 24" box (7 parts) at 65% yield.
Does this cut list include the doors and drawer fronts?
No — fronts are sized to your overlay and style (slab, shaker, five-piece) and usually come from a different material. This list is the box only: sides, bottom, stretchers, toe kick, shelf, plus the 1/4" back.
What about a face-frame cabinet?
These dimensions are for frameless (Euro-style) construction. A face-frame box typically uses shallower sides (the 3/4" frame adds to the depth) and different reveals — run your own numbers through the free optimizer rather than reusing this table.
What kerf does this assume?
1/8" (3.2 mm) — a standard table-saw or track-saw blade. Thin-kerf blades buy back a little material; the layout was computed with kerf on every cut, so the sheet count holds either way.
